Working For Schools and Young People
In this difficult budget year, Dinniman worked hard to double the proposed state aid formula for almost all the schools in his Senate district. This was done without increasing state taxes.
Andy successfully led the opposition in the Education Committee and on the Senate floor to more standardized testing in our schools - specifically the Governor's plan for graduation exams. All school districts in his Senatorial district opposed the exams due to the high cost, negative impact on high performing schools, and the loss of local control over the curriculum.
Dinniman made sure that schools in his district were able to take advantage of the 21st Century School Technology Program funds.
He also actively supported the initiative through the Keystone Stars Program to upgrade and expand pre-school education in our area. Over 60 childcare centers in the 19th district successfully participate in the Keystone Stars Program.
