Working For Health Insurance and Better Health Care
Pennsylvania has created one of the finest children's health coverage programs in the nation. We now must do so for adults. Senator Dinniman was proud to vote for, during his first year in office, an amendment to increase Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) coverage.
Dinniman has introduced Senate Bill 30 which would allow Pennsylvania businesses to obtain tax credits by contributing to non-profit health clinics. In his Senate district, these include Community Volunteers in Medicine in the West Chester Area and The Clinic in the Phoenixville area. At these clinics, volunteer doctors and nurses have treated, at no cost, thousands of residents who lack health insurance. Such legislation is one of many steps necessary to provide adult health coverage.
Senator Dinniman has supported and voted for legislation, which was approved, that works with hospitals to reduce hospital-based infections, a major factor in increasing health care costs.
