Working for Emergency Responders and Our Safety
The Pennsylvania Senate unanimously approved Senator Dinniman's Senate Bill 1169 on June 11, 2008. The legislation will help the recruitment and retention of volunteer firefighters and ambulance crews by letting municipalities give a local tax credit to those men and women who are active members of their local fire or ambulance company.
Senator Dinniman's Senate Bill 1169 is part of a bipartisan package of bills to help recruit and retain emergency service volunteers. If we don't do this, it will cost Pennsylvanians over $6 billion dollars a year in local taxes for paid fire and ambulance services.
Senator Dinniman has secured funds for various local emergency organizations and initiatives. In May he presented local fire officials with $500,000 for the construction of the Chester County Emergency Services Training Center. The donation was his half of the $1 million delivered from the Chester County Senate delegation.
